3 min read

Self-assessments in HRSimplified provide employees with an opportunity to reflect on their performance, track their progress on assigned KPAs (Key Performance Areas) and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), and answer custom questions set by their managers. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help employees complete their self-assessment.

  • You’ll see a list of all the performance reviews that have been assigned to you.

3. Check Review Availability #

  • Review Availability: Your assigned performance reviews will show their availability status based on the review period (e.g., Annual, Quarterly, Monthly). Reviews become available after the specific time period set by your manager:
    • Annual Review unlocks after 11 months.
    • Half-Yearly Review unlocks after 5 months.
    • Quarterly Review unlocks after 2 months.
    • Monthly Review unlocks after 2 weeks.

4. Start the Self-Assessment #

  • Once your review is available, click Start Self-Assessment to begin your self-assessment.

Completing the Self-Assessment #

1. Review KPAs and KPIs #

  • Begin by reviewing the KPAs and KPIs assigned to your role. Each KPA will be paired with specific Key Performance Indicators that are measurable goals or targets.
    • Example: For the Revenue Generation KPA, the KPI might be “Achieve a monthly sales target of $50,000.”

2. Provide Feedback on Each KPA/KPI #

  • For each KPA/KPI combination, evaluate your performance. You may be asked to rate your performance based on predefined criteria (e.g., 1 to 7 scale), or provide written feedback on how you have achieved or missed the set targets.
    • Example: If the target was $50,000 in monthly sales, you might note that you achieved $55,000 and explain the strategies you used.

3. Answer Open-Ended Questions #

  • In addition to KPIs, you’ll likely encounter open-ended questions designed to gather qualitative feedback about your experience, challenges, and growth opportunities.
    • Example: “What challenges did you face in meeting your performance targets this quarter?”
    • Example: “In which areas do you feel you need further development?”

4. Add Additional Comments #

  • If your review template includes a comments section, use this space to provide any additional feedback or notes that you feel are relevant to your overall performance.
    • This could include requests for support, reflections on company culture, or suggestions for improvement in your role.
